Work Completed

Today we modified the drivetrain design, using essentially the same layout, but replacing major components with sheet metal. For example, the side plates will be constructed out of bent aluminum sheets. The modified CAD file is progressing. The general layout is figured out: an upper and lower plate, side plates, and two inner plates. Gearboxes are on the way, and the chassis looks set to weigh 8 lbs.

Work for Next Meeting

The following still needs to be figured out: mounting scheme for mechanicals, holes to lighten the chassis, rivet hole patterns, flange overlap, shafts (snap rings?) purchase necessary rivets, shaft, and snap rings (or whatever we use)

On Schedule?

We were hoping to finish CADding soon, but we need a couple more days to make sure everything is perfect. The upside is that this design will be a lot easier to assemble and we can construct the gearboxes while we wait for the parts to be machined
