Notes

We decided to do the intake bot with a mecanum drive train. It was concluded that a wide bot would best accomadate the drivetrain and all of the innerds that need to be on the sides.

Work Completed

We concluded that we would need four inches of chassis at the back to hold the drivetrain together. We decided that we would use bevel gears to power the drive axles with the gearboxes on the plate on top of the drivetrain. We are going to use a hex shaft with each wheel to prevent slippage of the wheel on the axle. We also determined that two shaft collars and two spacers will be needed to hold all the parts of the axle, i.e. wheel and bevel gear, in place. We determined that if we put the battery in the back of the robot that it would balance the weight of the lifter tower and the totes/containers. A picture of the axle is on the black table in the common area.

Challenges

Need to figure out how to get the bevel gears to work with the drive train.

Work for Next Meeting

Determine a way to make the bevel gears a feasable solution. Figure out the measurements, i.e. width and length, of the drivetrain. Start putting together a bill of materials.
