Today we discussed the pulley mounting system and we changed it completely. Also we made some edits to the overall design. We removed the center crossbeam and added in two crossbeams per tower that span the four 80/20 poles. Instead of the one beam that is mounted between each set of poles, we now have two beams that go across lengthwise. This removes the need for a special c-channel bracket and also removes the little 1.625" 80/20 pieces that were quite annoying to make and cut to size accurately. These beams are mounted to the poles by triangle gussets and to the roof by bolts through the top. The pulley will be between these crossbeams mounted on a shaft (maybe one of those long screw things that are mostly smooth and threaded at the thend?) which is placed across the towers widthwise through holes in the 80/20 crossbeams. The others will sit on the roof and on the back of the bot, near to there original arrangement. This design can be seen on the prototype in the shop area that Martin and Robert worked on for most of the meeting. We also began the process of ordering some of the parts that we will need to complete the lifter. I think (not positive) that the aricraft cable and the sliders were ordered.
We have to remap the pulley system and talk to Jay about CADing all of the mounting holes for the cross pieces. The pulleys will be tough since we will need 3 different pulleys for the three different locations.
