Today we received the giant shear from harbor freight tools and spent the first porion of he meeting carting it into the shop and taking it out of the wooden crate. After that Lyle and I took all of the rookies available (justin,martin,ethan,singer,chloe, will also helped) and began assembling the kitbot. This is a rookie learning project and also this kitbot will be used as the "ghettobot" for electrical systems testing and driver testing. Some parts have arrived between today and yesterday's meetings, including some cable (the wrong one), all of the pulleys, the black 80/20 (sooooo sexy looking), the silver 80/20, the sliders and the RAWbox. The 80/20 was placed in the stock room. CAD is in its final phases and there are like 4 people just proffreading the CAD to try to find mistakes. New goal for engineering drawings is Sunday. Cole ordered the correct cable (hopefully in orange this time, fingers crossed) tonight so it should arrive soon. Lyle and I did some tests with the shear and it's not as good as we thought. It's only rated for use with at most 1/32" thick sheet metal. After doing extensive testing Lyle and I found that it can cut up to about 1/16", bend up to 1/8" and unbend up to 1/8" thick sheetmetal. For the bendingnof thicker metal, extreme leverage is required and it still must be done in a sort of jerking fashion in chunks. Failry accurate to around 90 degrees though.

Still not tons of work, kitbot is helping though.
