Work Completed

  • Discussed specifications with the drivetrain with other team captains specifically Yichen and Ha.
  • We settled on a 6-wheel west coast drive with 1/8 in drop center and square channel or 8020 frame.
  • Also looked at other subteams and their plans and how that would fit into drivetrain.
  • Also looked at different types of wheels that could be used for the drivetrain but haven't made any final decisions.
  • Also looked at past years (2011, 2007, 2003) robots that could help with this year's robot.

Challenges

Figuring what type of wheels to use and other drivetrain specifics.

Work for Next Meeting

Working with the CAD team and other subteams and finding more getting more specific with our ideas.

Find out more information about Drivetrain and basically how to do this.

- What wheels do you use and why?
- how will the drivetrain deal with bumps & ramps & nonflat field elements
- size of wheels

- Wheel geometry and where they should be placed within the robot
- research gearboxes & motor combinations (3 cims, 2cims +1 minicim, etc) use a jvn calculator (- look back in the chat for Billy's and Chris's comments on the dt speed and other important features Speed should be about 15 ft per second so see how to do this (gear boxes and gear ratios
