Work Completed

  • Intake rotation gearbox corrected
  • Second intake arm partially rebuilt so it is mirrored
  • Ramp surface riveted enough for testing
  • 5 out of 6 new Ramp tubes routed and 18 holes per tube drilled on what will be the top
  • New intake rotation CAM parts made from .125 Aluminum
  • elevator gearbox made progress but isn't quite done

Challenges

Work for Next Meeting

  • make practice bot functional ASAP!
    • elevator
      • make sure carriage glides smoothly inside second stage
      • get elevator gearboxes mounted asap, so pneumatics can be run to DT shifters and we can test driving
      • supports from crossbar near bottom need to be attached
      • cut & tap both ends a 1.5" & a 1.8" shaft for sprockets
      • attach top crossbar, chains, motors
      • test electrically when assembled
    • intake
      • If the one side works, Bob will get second back channel routed
      • one side arm still needs standoffs, belts and washers for the bolts attaching the motor
      • attach to back channel & hinge on elev
    • ramp
      • Finish the new prototype ramp (Check to be sure the spare Ts, gussets and Ls use for assembling the ramp are truly spares)
      • Route and drill 6th Ramp side tube
      • Cut a tube for top of ramp
      • Find another 32.5" 1x1 tube or remove one from the practice bot ramp frame (the one without a ramp surface)
      • "The two sections are presently held with 3 rivets.  Rivets should be added along the side beams.  I should have taken a picture but there are 3 hole widths of perforated aluminum covering the 38" long pieces of extrusion.  Rivets should be placed in the middle set along the 38" long pieces.  No need to rivet onto the middle piece under the ramp surface.  Also, don't rivet anywhere in the 12 inches of tubing closest to where it mounts to the robot.  The presently riveted section is the end that will contact the floor.
The total weight of the Perf Aluminum for a single ramp is 1.9 lbs. Total robot weight reduction is 5 lbs.  Total theoretical weight of comp bot with new ramp surface plus parts we need to add: 127.59." - Bob
