Work Completed

We were able to begin assembly of the drivetrain using the extrusions we made as well as CAD from the parts library. We fully assembed the front, middle-front, and back wheels, which included adding in spacers, hex shafts, and sprockets. The bearings for each wheel were also added in. We decided to use parts from last year's drivetrain such as specific types of spacers and sprockets to cut down on the time it would take to CAD. This way, we can stay on schedule to finish the drivetrain as soon as possible.

Challenges

We forgot to put holes for gears in the initial stage of CADing the side extrusion so we had to go back and cut out the holes in the part file. This did not take much time. We also had to edit the hex shafts we created, as we found out they were too long for the drivetrain. This was easily solved by measuring the distance from the wheel to the sprocket on each wheel assembly and editing the part file so the shaft would be exactly that measured length.

Work for Next Meeting

Next meeting, we should continue assembly of the drivetrain. We can either go with assembly of the gearbox, or work with the assembly of the front and back extrusion. Another task to be completed is doing another round of geometry with the now CADed side extrusion to see if it provides enough clearance for the bumpers when coming off of the platform.
