James and Tori were there

Work Completed

• Build captain's meeting: Shared current prototype and issues we have/had
• Finished prototype of initial single-piston mechanism (the one with L-Shaped pieces), and we decided we did not want to use it as it was not as effective in holding the hatch panel and picking it up
• Discussed and created a sketch of the horizontal slider, along with the design to thrust the beak mechanism forward (See drive)
• Decided we want to keep pursuing the beak/petals mechanism

Challenges

We were facing challenges with the previous single-piston mechanism:
• It was using too much PSI
• It would sometimes bend and the stopper did not help
• Probably would be fragile in a match

With the new idea for the horizontal alignment:
• It is complex, with rails facing two directions
• Lots of specific vocabulary everyone should learn to understand is being talked about

Work for Next Meeting

Beak Mechanism

• Create prototype for beak/petal mechanism
• Test prototype
• Present design of beak mechanism at team meeting

Horizontal Slide

• Test the current horizontal slider (try with drill for slower speeds)
• Adapt the current prototype to create the latest design (see Tori's drawing on the drive or Slack)

Other Tasks

Record test data

Go through all designs and make sure every single one is on the drive

Record and discuss pros and cons and modify prototype based on testing data (We have pros & cons but now we need to record data for tests for multiple prototypes that we have considered to be our best designs).

If done with the first prototype, sort and rank the remaining designs, and create prototypes for the best.

Begin thinking about which prototype we want to begin building/further testing.

On Schedule?

Ready to present designs at tomorrow's team meeting

Plan to finish beak mechanism by end of Monday, or end of Tuesday latest.
