Work Completed

We worked on the arm, which required some adjustments.

  • We replaced the rolling bar with a lexan sheet.
  • We reduced the depth of the claw to just barely larger than the size of a cargo.
  • Ew reoved a stage of the roller gearbox.

The claw can now effectively intake cargo and outtake it into the cargo ship.

Challenges

At first, the prototype did not have enough power to outtake. We soon realized that this was because the claw was not in contact with the cargo after intaking.

Then, we realized that the claw rollers had too much torque, and not enough speed. This resulted in the cargo pushing against other areas of the claw than intended. We fixed this by removing a stage of the roller gearbox.

Work for Next Meeting

Present the prototype and consider more extensive testing.

On Schedule?

Slightly behind, as we originally wanted prototyping to be finished by the end of Week 1.
