- added a pin to the cargo arm coupler in the hopes of stopping it from slipping -> cracked that coupler. Not sure how to resolve the slipping issue
- tested frisbee bot, it's in working order, should be good to play defense tomorrow
- had a pretty long discussion about buddy climbing. some conclusions:
- if we want to double climb with a passive forklift that drops down from the front of the robot as we climb backwards, we need to shift our whole CG backwards
- we need to focus on two things: saving weight in the front to allow us to add weight to the back (and also allow us to have enough weight for a forklift
- moving the battery to the back of the bot should be pretty easy (Bob ordered wire to allow us to make this change)
- we can put like 4lbs of steel in our back bumpers
- we can replace the top lexan on the cargo intake with sheet metal
- painted some wood for FLL tables
- edited some work benches so we could have both a nice work surface and a place to store our totes. we will be able to store 6 totes under the whole table when we are done
- left coupler on climber kept uncoupling -> bob replaced one of the screws because it was stripped
- figured out why our robot cart clunks when we use it - one of the wheels has a flat side. ordered some new 4" wheels to replace robot cart wheels, and with that, it should be all good
Discussed pit options (none of this is final. Nothing will prevent us from using existing pit layout and banners):
- Started reworking two small workbenches so they can be bolted together. Discussed more rebuilding including removing 2x4 legs and replacing them with 2x2s and adding a second shelf to allow placing 6 totes underneath new combined workbench.
- Latest plan is to bring horizontal band saw for cutting tubing, etc.
- Jig saw for cutting shapes
- Move Vise to new workbench
- For banners:
- Move large Ctrl-Z banner to front of pit using two new 2" PVC uprights.
- One upright will be zip-tied to shelf that holds scouting laptop. (will require putting a heavy tote on bottom shelf)
- Move battery cart to a location under tall table that holds binders and handouts. Charagers on top shelf of battery cart and batteries underneath. Second upright gets ziptied to battery cart.
- Sponsor and blue banners will be attached to new 1.5" PVC that will attach to workbench.
